Renting an Apartment

Finding a flat ("Butas") can be stressful. While many landlords speak English, the ads (Skelbiu.lt, Aruodas.lt) are often in Lithuanian.

Reading the Ads

  • Nuoma — Rent
  • Butas — Apartment
  • Kambarys — Room
  • Ilgalaikė nuoma — Long-term rent
  • Trumpalaikė nuoma — Short-term rent
  • Depozitas — Deposit

Key Questions for Landlords

  • Kokia kaina mėnesiui? (What is the price per month?)
  • Ar komunaliniai mokesčiai įskaičiuoti? (Are utilities included? - Crucial question!)
  • Kada galiu apžiūrėti? (When can I visit/inspect?)
